Counselling Services

I am a qualified Registered (MBACP) person centred therapist and CBT therapist, with 18 years of experience of working as a qualified general adult nurse in acute medical emergencies.

As a result of my own work experience I have a special interest in trauma recovery, I can also incorporate a biomedical approach into my counselling alongside techniques to help my client to better manage a range of personal issues including those detailed below. If you do not see what you are struggling with, please do contact me anyway, and I will let you know if I am able to help, or signpost you to someone, or a service who can. At present I offer phone or zoom counselling.

Anxiety & Depression

A safe, comfortable environment to establish, confront and overcome issues for a happier life.

Relationships

Helpful techniques for those experiencing relationship difficulties or problematic family relationships.

Addiction

If you're experiencing substance abuse, addiction or dependency to drugs, alcohol, sex, smoking or gambling.

Managing Feelings

Take control of emotions that drive negative thoughts; from anger to self harm, you can initiate positive change.

Overcome Violence

If you have been a victim of harrassment, intimidation, hate crime, bullying, rape or sexual assault

Sexual Orientation

Support for those experiencing challenges with acceptance impacting your sense of self-worth and confidence.

Domestic Abuse

Support and learning strategies to help you face and overcome the effects of emotional and physical abuse.

Mindfulness

Understanding your emotions and physical reactions to develop and maintain a sense of control in our modern world.

Prices

I offer a sliding scale price service £35-£50 depending on your income and what you are able to afford. I also offer concessionary prices for student counsellors (£30 per hour). Payment must be made in advance of each session taking place.

Please do not continue to struggle on your own, together we can explore, and engage in a therapeutic relationship where it is safe to take your mask off that you wear to the world, and a safe space explore the issues, and harmful thinking, and behavioural patterns that wear you down, and are preventing you from living the life you want to lead.

Experience & Qualifications

I am a fully qualified 'Person-Centred Therapist' (MBACP registered), currently employed by the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust on a bank basis, should extra counsellors be required during the pandemic - I also work on a voluntary basis for the counselling service 'U&I Counselling'. I currently practice using a person centred approach and cognitive behavioural therapy.

I have counselled clients from aged 16 upwards, more recently I spent three years working with bereaved clients through 'Cruse Bereavement', the knowledge and training from which was invaluable - my experience also includes counselling clients with issues related to child sex abuse, alcohol, relationships, anxiety, depression, loneliness, grief, trauma and post traumatic stress symptoms.

I hold a current full BACP membership along with full personal indemnity insurance via Towergate.
